Creating various sensory bins increases joint attention from my students with varying learning abilities. Many tasks cards from themed materials as well as manipulates/objects can be placed in these sensory bins for increased attention and learning. Sensory bins target a multitude of speech and language skills including: pretend play, imitating actions, cause and effect, turn taking, requesting, vocabulary, answering 'wh' questions, following directions, categorizing, articulation, sequencing and much more. Sensory bins not only help students in developing speech and language skills; but with their fine motor skills as well. These kids are very motivating for kids as it is using play skills to develop various speech and language skills.
