The items that I am asking for will be used to create a sensory room where students can go throughout the school day. The sensory room will be used to deescalate behaviors, calm students, and fulfill sensory needs for students with disabilities. The use of a sensory room will be beneficial by increasing brain function, developing and activating senses, providing a secure environment, and heightening awareness. The sensory room will use a range of stimuli to promote sensory awareness such as chairs for movement, special lighting, calming music, and aromas. A sensory room is a research based environment that will be very beneficial to my students.
