As a first year teacher, I have been going through the materials in the classroom. The materials in the classroom need to be sorted and organized! The baskets will be used to organize our library books by levels and nonfiction topics. Also, students will have their own baskets to store their own reading materials. The file totes and folders will be used to store students' art projects, writing, reading, and math work for their student portfolios. In a special needs classroom, there is a lot of data collected in the classroom and from outside providers such as speech teachers, occupational and physical therapists, counselors, etc. Organizing students' portfolios are essential when meeting with parents and updating students' individualized plans. The small and large bins will also be used to organize art materials, math manipulatives, and learning games for students to have easy access to during instructional time. The mesh six-slot storage will be used for organizing students' weekly work for the paraprofessionals to assist students with. The sheet protectors will be used to organize students' work in their writing, reading, and math folders so charts can not be torn or damaged. Students' work, resources, and learning games and toys need to be sorted and organized for the children to have easy access. Having an organized classroom is extremely important and not just for the teachers, but for the students as well.
