The drums will be used in music class so every student has an opportunity to use their own drum. Every year, I have a group of students accompany the Chorus on a song. I am hoping to expand our performance opportunities. We practice reading rhythms, keeping a steady beat, and progress to learning African rhythm patterns in 5th grade. The students are able to play as a class or break off into smaller groups. This gives the students the chance to play multiple parts at once which is a musical skill that is hard to achieve. I'm looking forward to coming up with more ideas for the classroom with the students having access to more resources.
