I am in my 14th year of teaching K-5 general music. I love bringing many opportunities through music to my students. I currently hold a Level 1 Orff-Schulwerk certification and my First Steps in Music/Conversational Solfege certifications. I would now like to add African/World Music Drumming to my certifications for more student engagement and fun! I am requesting a week-long certification course in Mitchell, SD that will grant me my Level I World Music Drumming Certification, along with lodging. This course will introduce me to the fundamental concepts involved in teaching world drumming to elementary students. I already have the classroom drums and other instruments available for my students. I just need the training so I can teach them how to use them correctly. This would allow my students to participate in the new learning that I would bring back this coming summer. I would also like to start an after school drumming club for my students. Thank you so much for your consideration.
