I am leaving with just 3 boxes of my own & a fridge! (see photo) My new group of students will need more than just the basics as they are a testing grade in Texas. I am being placed in 3rd grade after sharing all materials & resources with my CoTeacher! I have come to realize that I need materials! I use that very strongly because they are at a totally different level from my kindergartners. First off, I want to provide a variety of seating areas for self paced learning with materials such as dry erase dots that can be accessible on their desks as they go through the year practicing multiplication skills. We lack storage for books, pencil bags, water bottles, etc. 3rd grade is very hungry for knowledge. They still want to please & give 100%. I feel the power of basic necessities & a strong climate/environment as they walk through the doors for the first time. It is the beginning of a wonderful, successful year.
