My English language learners are eager to read a book in their native language. By having literacy in their home language Spanish available my students will feel connected to their home. School is their second home you know! My English language learners love to read in Español! I teach ESL and students from grades k-12th come into my ESL classroom in search for culturally relevant books. A piece of literacy that connects them to their roots. I want my students to feel comfortable and proud of being bilingual. They can reach their English proficiency by having books available in the home language too.
