There are certain items every classroom needs such as pencils, paper, books, a computer, a white board. A music class is no different. My classroom does not currently have a white board. I currently have a chalkboard which I don't feel comfortable using due to some student allergies, and a smart-board which is often inconvenient. I feel limited in my teaching without a convenient visual aid to offer my students. With a white board, I will be able to write down key concepts, and create with students more easily.
Music class is a special time for elementary students as they learn to sing, dance and play instruments. Circle games and floor activities are an everyday occurrence in my classroom, and my students currently don't have a rug big enough for everyone to sit on. They have to sit on the cold, hard tile and many students are distracted by their discomfort. This rug I've chosen is music themed, with accurate depictions of musical symbols; it's also 13' across to fit all my students comfortably. This rug would be a game changer for my students and will also help my students form spacial awareness!
