As a first time teacher, I'm coming into a mostly bare room with little in hand. Many of the items, such as filler paper, pencils, folders, and storage items, will be used daily by my students. Where I work, most of my students do not have their own supplies and need to store any supplies within their classrooms. Because I am sharing the room with another teacher, the hanging organization is vital. As we study stories, articles, and culture from around the world students will be encouraged to get up and move. My high schoolers will be traveling around the world this year in English Enhancement and the international flag banner will be used to get kids moving and engaged. While I likely won't be able to decorate my room this first year, I want my students to be able to walk in and know exactly where everything is. I want them to know exactly what they can expect for me to have available for them. I want my classroom to be a place of stability in their lives.
