One goal I strive for is to energize students and get them excited about reading. Naturally, we have a variety of books, but sometimes our readers prefer something that doesn’t seem so daunting or is more current and relevant to their interests. I think manga and graphic novels have encouraged our students to try something different that is also achievable and entertaining. It helps build confidence with readers, engages them in the story, and inspires some students to create their own manga. The elation of the students getting the treasured books fills my soul with joy. Our students rush to the manga section of the library to see what titles are available weekly, if not daily. Our copies consistently have numerous holds and requests placed on them by students. Since that section is still being cultivated, your donation to this project would provide more titles as well as sets. The students will be ecstatic to read the new books.
