The best part about my job is that I get to introduce a variety of team sports to a community of youth only familiar with soccer. The good news is that soccer fundamentals translate nicely to most other team sports, and I receive great athletes year after year. The downside is our funding is next to nothing for sports equipment, and we are left scrambling for the quality equipment that our student athletes deserve. Our men's basketballs are at the point of throwing out, leaving us to use lumpy and/or "outdoor" basketballs. Our volleyballs are now nine years old, and at the breaking point. Footballs...various sizes, materials, and condition. Our goal is that these students can begin to take pride in our school's athletic program. These three sport programs (basketball, volleyball, and football) will greatly benefit by having the proper equipment they deserve.
