This project came about with the need for basic classroom materials that support the needs of my students in developing strong communication skills. Kindergarten is the foundation of a student's ability to effectively communicate through written words, spoken words, and visualizations. I can best support my English Language Learners through visual anchor charts, interactive writing practice on individual white-boards and access to developmentally appropriate primary pencils. Art is a powerful tool in any primary classroom as it creates equal opportunity to express oneself through a universal language. Students have opportunities to learn and describe their art in terms of colors, shapes, size, and emotion.
