Everything I chose has a purpose. These items will not only benefit my students academically, but emotionally as well. Many of our students are in need of Social Emotional Learning (SEL). These items will allow me to create a reading corner and a "cool down" corner. The "cool down corner" will give students the resources they need to take a break, analyze what they're feeling and utilize the strategies they are given to find a healthy way to display their emotions. They are taught in my room that you are allowed feel whatever it is you feel, but you need to express it in a way that is safe for everyone. The reading corner will allow students to get excited about reading again. Many students do not have books at home or even feel motivated to read on their own. Today, students only read what is required of them and these texts are mostly likely informational based. These products will provide us with the opportunity to rebrand reading to our students. A student who is successful in reading and is emotionally intelligent will become a successful citizen. We must invest in our future leaders of our country now! Support us and our journey in providing a safe environment for students to express their needs and development as humans!
