Our Title I school is in a rural district that includes several small towns and communities. There is only one public library in the district. We have had school in person so far this year. It is different with social distancing and other restrictions, but we are trying to make our classroom a great place to learn. My begindergarten classroom has up to 15 young five-year-old children. The students in the begindergarten program are chronologically ready to enter the school setting, but may not be developmentally ready to endure the rigors of the kindergarten curriculum. Begindergarten allows these students a year to develop the foundational skills to enter kindergarten the following school year. We focus on foundational reading, math, fine motor, and social-emotional skills. My students are all so unique and learn in such different ways. They love to learn through inquiry, love to play, and love to be creative.
