Nothing unites a classroom more than a common goal! Coffee for Confidence has just that goal in mind. Our classroom will be building a business from the ground up. Students will be creating coffee menus, discuss fair pricing, and determine job titles needed to begin our business. Students will then apply for positions based upon their own interests, giving them real-life job experience. Then after interviews and job placements, we will begin our school-wide coffee cart! This student-led business will allow my students to learn both academic as well as social skills needed to benefit their futures. We will be taking orders from school staff once a week. During this time students will focus on developing appropriate social skills such as eye-contact, clear speech, and social filters. We will then be filling these orders, and delivering them to staff again practicing real-world applications to our social skills lessons we have been working on all year. Students will also be working with money, making change, and tracking expenses/profits! All of our profits will fund our school-wide store. Students spend their days earning tickets for displaying positive behaviors. Once week they can redeem these tickets at the school-wide store. Our classroom coffee cart will be able to supply this store with bigger ticket items! Not only will our classroom business be uniting our classroom as we build a business together, but it will also build up our school community along with my student's sense of pride as we watch our business grow!
