We will be using these books to do an author study. Students will compare and contrast themes, analyze text and illustrations and make connections between an author's life and his work as well as between an author's work and the reader's own life. The students will identify similarities in books by the same author. Hopefully, students will be curious about the author, prompting them to further research the author. Students will become familiar with their author and their style of writing. An Author Study will also help the reader gain more insight into the character and why they behave the way they do.
