With the circumstances that have impacted our county and our world this past year, it is more important than ever to learn using a diverse pool of books, authors and stories. These books will be used to help give greater representation of minorities as well as provide deeper understanding of different perspectives. These books demonstrate a wide variety of characters that come from many different geographical locations, ethnicities, and cultures. As the pandemic comes to an end, its important to remember there is so much still to be done. This starts with educating students with high-quality materials. I plan to use these books for quality read aloud time and mini-lessons to teach all the important 4th grade skills and strategies. These books will provide my students the opportunity to learn and grow academically while expanding their perspectives.
