Studies have shown that students who are in a comfortable environment are able to learn and retain material better. That is why I am asking for help in creating an area within my classroom where students can get comfortable as they analyze literature and draft their writings. As a middle school teacher, I have seen students twitch in their seats and be distracted by discomfort of their desks. As a result, they often miss imperative information and often struggle to focus on the task at hand. If they were in comfortable seating, I feel they would better be able to focus on the material and learn a tremendous amount of more.
