In our pursuit to better support our families and school community, we will be hosting family game nights. Many students' families simply do not have the resources to engage in a “family game night” at home. Our school’s mission is to bring engagement and equity to them by hosting family board game nights. Board games are a great way to support with academic achievement, behavior, language barriers, and social emotional learning. Board games can be used to promote sharing, rule following, and problem solving skills. Additionally, board games are an excellent way to build and foster foundational academic skills (counting, reading, word and letter recognition) and higher order thinking and academic skills (critical thinking, process of elimination, strategizing, sportsmanship, and prolonged engagement).
