Learning another language is a tricky task, let alone learning the content of school in another language. For many students, the task of learning the academic language needed to be successful in school is daunting. Research shows that students who have access to images are better able to acquire, learn, and use new vocabulary more quickly. The toner requested will be used to help create customized images and resources for students in Grade K-5. For example, a student from Africa can benefit from images depicting winter scenes as this is a type of weather not seen in Africa. Another student can benefit from taking home books printed in two languages so that family literacy can be a part of home. Using a printer with color can bring to life almost every content area in school and can make learning English a colorful experience.
