Our school has limited art supplies. The goal of this project is to provide paints, paintbrushes, and soft and oil pastels for students to increase their learning and creativity. As the students work with these various materials they also learn what it means to collaborate and build off of each others ideas. It encourages positive communication and pride in themselves as well as with each other. When students look at the different illustrations from the books they read, they will understand that various materials can be used to get their point across. Students are able to have more interactive experiences and make choices in how they want to express themselves when given various art materials to work with. Students will be able to show their individuality and what they have learned through drawn or painted posters and illustrations. Voice and choice is one thing that is highly encouraged and using these various art materials is one way students can do that.
