My students are striving readers who visit my room for extra help in reading and writing. They love to borrow books and graphic novels from my classroom library. Students feel successful when they can pick up a book they can read, understand, and enjoy! Striving readers are often drawn to graphic novels because of the images draw them into the story and naturally support comprehension. They are great gateways to building reading stamina and confidence! If students are going to become better readers, they need to read as much as possible. What better way to encourage students to read more than by providing the books they can't wait to read!?
