I strive to provide my students with an environment that provides learning that is developmentally appropriate and engaging. Kindergartners need to be able to be in close proximity for instruction as well as have space to move. This classroom rug will provide a multipurpose space for whole group instruction, as well as space to learn through play. When we gather up for instruction or circle up for our class meetings, a carpet is the destination spot that serves as a great anchor. Students won’t question where to sit, or spread out very far because the rug becomes the destination and the edges of the rug serve as a defined space for them to sit. Having a carpet space allows for flexible seating in a my classroom. Students don’t have to sit at a desk all day. They can have different learning areas that best suits the type learning that is taking place or the needs of the student.
