The Earthquake Simulation Kits, Water Quality Testers, Rocks & Fossils Kits and other resources will allow students to utilize their critical thinking skills to engage with problem-solving tasks. Most importantly, it will allow our classroom to follow one of the most important frameworks of the Next Generation Science Standards--Science and Engineering Practices. Along with proper sanitation techniques in the classroom, students deserve to have enriched learning beyond a computer screen. Due to the isolation nature of the pandemic, my students have missed out on hands-on activities and collaborative experiments. Specifically, the standards HS-ESS3-1, HS-ESS1-6, and HS-ESS2-4 will be addressed with experimental activities planned around the physical structures on Earth as well as the impact of human sustainability on the planet.
