Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American teenager, who idolizes Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel). In Ms Marvel: No Normal, Kamala inherits Carol Danvers super powers because she thinks to be accepted she has to be strong, white, and beautiful. She discovers that she is awesome just as Kamala Khan. Exploring their identity before high school is vital to their development in high school and after. Reading this comic book will help my students have a better identity of themselves. Students will also be making superhero graphic novels of themselves to tell their own stories. By creating their own graphic novels about themselves, they will be able to learn more about who they are.
