These materials will be incorporated into our existing sensory tables to add to the variety of sensory experiences we are providing for our students. The students in our program have a limited attention span for most toys. However, we have found that they are most engaged in sensory play. It has been really effective in terms of helping children engage with their peers, share space, and begin to discover and engage in early science exploration. Sensory Play not only encourages children to experiment with early science concepts but is also very calming and engaging. All of the students in our program are working on self-regulation and sharing space and materials with their peers. Having these materials will provide a wider variety of positive sensory experiences for the students in our classroom.
