My students have various sensory and behavioral needs. Without accommodations to help with their needs, the students become easily frustrated and struggle learning basic concepts. This is why I am hoping to establish a "Classroom Calming Corner". It will be an area that allows students to take a break, help with sensory needs, and assist in calming behaviors. When my special needs students are calm, they are able to learn so much more and stay focused, while decreasing frustration in learning. In order to establish this area, the students will need flexible seating options and a carpet for comfortable and safe seating.
