As a nation compiled of people from all over the globe, as well, as rich indigenous cultures, our education system must support those newest to our society and diverse from mainstream cultures. Language development research provides that fostering home language development and literacy transfers to English language and literacy development. Please help us to create our classroom library. The books on this list are mostly Spanish language books and for a variety of readiness levels. Making sure our students are learning about their new culture as well as see themselves and their home languages and cultures reflected in the materials we use is critical for making them feel safe and valued and the learning relevant.
