The items I have asked for are items to help provide my students with a clean environment in which they can learn and feel safe while doing so. I work with students who have severe disabilities and attend all of their classes in one classroom called the self-contained classroom. This is primarily due to them needing many different services that would be difficult to handle in the general education setting. My students have unique needs and some of those include health concerns. We work to keep the room clean and keep the students separated while still providing learning in a way in which the students can be engaged and interact with each other. With the items I am asking for, I plan to work towards a complete clean-up which allows the room to be clean, smell clean, feel clean and even allow the students to become involved in the cleaning so that things may become more normalized for them everyday. Often questions or comments come up about the virus and we answer those questions so they will feel comfortable in their environment. I want them to understand what it means to stay clean and safe. They are slowly catching on to the concept of the masks and social distancing. I want them to also be able to incorporate these cleaning skills into their every day lives. Doing these things at school will teach them daily living skills to help them at home as well as when some of them begin to graduate form high school. Please help me create a cleaner, safer learning environment for my students where they can learn during these unfamiliar times. Thank you!
