The guitarron, vihuela and guitar are essential instruments to the mariachi and there are unique ways to perform these instruments. Although my students may have heard a mariachi perform, there is no substitute for the hands-on experience that practicing on these instruments will provide. My students will learn how to perform mariachi music by studying and practicing on authentic mariachi instruments including the guitarron, vihuela and guitar. Once there is a level of proficiency on these three instruments, they will combine with interested violin players in orchestra and trumpet players in band to perform authentic mariachi music for an audience.
