In the Nov./Dec. 2019 Horn Book Magazine, Rachel G. Payne reminds us of the vital role that board books play in helping start the learning journey of young readers. "Board books are some of the most important books any of us will ever read, whether as infants being read to or as adults reading to the little ones in our lives. Between those thick, sturdy pages and on the laps of loving caregivers, brains are being built, bonds are being formed, and language is blooming." Adding board books to our school library collection will provide access to these essential tools for developing early literacy to all the families and students in my school.
