Our school was never designed to have a library, which is why I now operate out of classroom. Space is always an issue. I service six classes most days, and have been wanting to add a little flair to the room, specifically, a "Help Yourself" Bookstore Display Bookstand, with a "New Reads!" sign. Additionally, my wish list has been to obtain as many of the "Who Was/Is"-"What Was/Is" book series as possible. Their appeal to children in elementary school is tremendously high, but the added bonus, is that their educational value is completely on point. As a librarian, I feel it's my responsibility to expose my students to the broadest range of topics. This series of books does a fantastic job of bringing a wealth of knowledge to developing little minds. Unfortunately, within this community, many don't get enough encouragement and support at home to be independent researchers. As a school community, however, we are doing what we can to change that.
