6th graders are a tough crowd to please. Because of that, I am requesting help to fund my expenses for a national conference that will teach me new strategies to help them become more engaged in my classroom. Hope and Wade King are the creators of the Get Your Teach On conference. They are such an inspiration and I am hoping to gain their knowledge of how to better my teaching skills. They wrote a book called "The Wild Card," which I read this past summer. While it was wonderful and had such creative ideas and inspirational lessons, it would be great to see the practices mentioned in the book live and in more detail. The ideas shared at this conference would help me continue to fan my spark for education into a flame. This is a career where finding new ideas is a must. By attending this conference, my students can benefit from the new material and my creative juices can be renewed.
