During distant learning, our students built a love for illustrating and writing in journals. We want to continue building that love for writing with our incoming kindergarten students. We found that journal writing help improved our students' letter-sound recognition, blending, sight word recognition, and grammar. The students also loved writing about the picture that they had drawn. They became the authors of their own stories and enjoyed sharing them with their families and classmates. Let's continue to build a love for writing and drawing in our incoming Shirley kindergarten students.

About my class
