The rain barrels will be used to help save water at a California school. My students want to save water, and reduce their carbon footprint. They also hope to build the rain barrel/gutter combination themselves (with adult supervision), which will aid in their understanding of engineering and design. The students at my school also created a gardening club, and the water saved from the rain barrel will be used to water their plants. The water will also be used to water the trees and plants surrounding our school. Their hope is that there will be enough water to eventually donate to the community.
