This project will give my students an opportunity to learn basic skills necessary to help them become life- long learners. They will receive and learn how to use an iron, ironing board, sewing kit, and a sewing machine. These items will help them become more self-sufficient as they are on their way into adulthood. Most of us can remember who taught us how to use a sewing machine and an iron - due to the population of students at my school - I WANT to be that person! My students will learn how to not only iron clothes, but will learn how to mend them, as well. We are teaching the soft skills necessary to obtain a job and the importance of personal appearance at interviews. These students will also be able to learn how to manage their everyday necessities, such as clean and presentable clothing.
