These soccer training tools will help me set the foundation for a girls' soccer team at the middle school where I teach. The school has been in existence for ten years and we have absolutely not tools or materials to practice! I will do everything I can to ensure that my girls obtain the best soccer training and development possible. With these soccer training tools, my girls will be able to see that they are worthy of high quality training just as much as boys. From 6th-8th grade, girls will learn the sport and learn to break boundaries despite their gender. As young women in the East End community of Houston, they are often taught that physically challenging activities are not meant for them. My girls will learn that though society may attempt to limit them, the only limits that truly exist are those that they accept. By the end of the season my girls will understand the rules to the game and positions. They will decide what position fits their personality and skills. Along with these basic skills, the girls will learn about different professional teams (male and female) to use as examples and motivation for their own development. Most importantly, the team will learn about their own bodies, nutrition, health, self-love and empowerment. My team will play high-quality soccer not just "for a girl."
