Part of the state required standards for Kindergarten includes an hour of Purposeful Play. One of the stations that is vital to inspiring young minds is a Maker Space/ Art area for students to create/make/play with various art supplies or recycled objects from home like paper towel rolls. I have created in my room a little art nook with storage bins that I dream of filling up with amazing items as sequins, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, tissue paper, craft scissors and other fun items for kids to create with. Not all families at my school can afford or have time for outside art enrichment so this art center might be their only experience to try out their artistic side.
