Getting books in the hand of students is a must. It is especially difficult this year with students learning from both at home and in the classroom. This year students will participate in a whole class novel study. Each student needs their own copy of the book to stay safe! As well as the novel study, students will partake in independent reading to build their skills. Even though we are in the classroom, book choices are limited because we cannot share materials. While my classroom library does have some books already, there is a need for more books and more diverse books! There is a need for relevant books. In order for kids to enjoy reading, we must provide them with books that they can relate to. We must provide them with book where they are able to see themselves in the characters of stories. The books will also provide them a better understanding of their peers.
