I teach in a K-8 school and as a part of my whole music program, my students experience playing in a Modern Band once they get to middle school. I would love for my students to be able to learn how to play the ukulele while in Modern Band class. This "new" and very popular instrument will give them the opportunity of developing a new set of motor and fine skills. In addition, they will be even more engaged during their music class. My project specifically consists of acquiring a class set of ukuleles in order for my students to have their own to practice and play while in class. The donations to this project will positively impact my students' musical and interpersonal skills. While playing in a musical group or a band, the students are exposed to essential skills they will use for their adult lives such as teamwork and communication. Learning how to play and playing this instrument for the first time in class will be key to enhance their sense of community inside the music class and to provide them with the ability to develop more their interpersonal skills. Please help me make this dream come true and provide my kids with ukuleles.
