Many of my students come from less fortunate backgrounds. They often spend hours on end on public transport just to get to and from school. Many of them don't get home until late for this very reason. On top of this, they don't have access to technology. I didn't realize at first that my students didn't do their assignments simply because they CAN'T. They go home to the bare essentials, and computers and WiFi simply don't make the cut. My students are capable of so much more, but without the technology of this ever more tech-savy world, they feel left behind. Something as simple as a tablet in their hands would give them access to research, online files, and a word processor to type up papers. In years to come, they can be used to apply to colleges, and scholarships. And when we prep for a test, no student is left out when we play Kahoot!
