After a year of distance learning and remaining still in front of a screen, my students need the ability to be engaged in small groups and have the choice of working elsewhere in the classroom. The portable lap desks that I'm requesting allow them to do just that and remain engaged. The benefit of flexible seating is that our class will become a more student-centered classroom. For many of my students, they remain at school all day and are very limited to movement. By allowing flexible seating, students will have an increased sense of independence through choice, movement, and continue being engaged and active learners in the classroom.
