The materials I chose highlight our classroom needs and also the needs of my students. In Pre-K 3, we are just starting to learn how to behave in a school setting, and most importantly are getting to know ourselves and others. These materials not only reflect what we need in terms of student's academic growth, but also what we need in order to help them grow emotionally and as people. Materials such as puzzles and matching games help students with their academic growth, but materials such as a feelings carpet help them to identify their own emotions, which is equally, if not more important at this age. Finally, art supplies are a necessity in our classroom because not only do students bond with teachers and fellow classmates during projects, but their creativity is encouraged and explored during these projects. All of these things help to make our classroom a safe space that students can call "a home away from home".
