As a first year teacher I have done my best to make sure that my students have what they need to succeed. However as most people know, building a classroom and filling it with the things children need to give them that extra push or to provide them with alternative methods for problem solving or even learning to read is not something that happens overnight. These are things that take time and for a first year teacher, getting these items into the classroom can be rather difficult. When Hurricane Harvey hit our city, most of my students were extremely impacted. Some lost their homes and others lost so much more. Having already come from low income neighborhoods and dealing with the struggles that come with living below the poverty line, my students deserve to at least have a nice classroom with the proper tools they need to help them learn. They deserve to have real manipulatives to count with and actual word blocks and 3D letters instead of just the paper cutouts I have printed for them. I want my students to feel like their future is being invested into and that there are people who care about their education. If you can find it in your heart to fund at least part of our project we would forever be grateful. Thank you and God Bless you.
