Our second grade class is full of energetic creative students who need help to self-regulate to get ready to learn. Our large classroom has hardwood floors and hard walls. This amplifies sounds, desired and undesired, and we are striving for a more calm soothing learning environment. The carpet will help to muffle the noise and provide a clean soft place for students to sit and to work. The mindfulness books will fit in with our curriculum to teach students to identify their moods and figure out how to get themselves ready to learn. The bean bag chairs will be used as places for students to take a break and get ready to come back and learn. We have to first get students feeling focused and settled before we can teach them. I hope you can understand how important this is and thank you!
