My students have entered a race. The race is won by reading. Around the classroom we have marked every foot with a roman numeral. We have all made paper cars. In order to move a car an inch the owner of the car must read 10 pages outside the classroom. Many of my students have risen to the challenge. (I am currently in 2nd place) Unfortunately for some of my students this is a struggle. I believe that with new books in our classroom library those struggling students will be more interested. And an interested student learns exponentially faster. Every time I bring new books to the classroom my students gather around in order to see the titles.
