My students are the kind of kids that most teachers don't want in their classes. These kids are tough. They come from broken homes, most not really knowing their real families. They are in an out of trouble in the school. Some of them have been removed from multiple classes and I am their last resort. I take these students into my class and I am tough on them but I also provide them a safe place. In my class they know they have a voice and that I want to hear what they have to say. I monitor their grades and their progress in their classes. I do not let them get away with slacking or disrespect. They know what to expect from me and what I ultimately expect from them. I push them to be their best and to expect more from themselves. We work together not only on their grades and course work but also in real life. I try to teach them to have respect for themselves and others. I work with them to prepare for life outside of school. We work on job skills and I even help them to fill out job applications. I have some great successes with my students but the small successes outweigh them all and are by far the most rewarding. These students that most count as "lost" are true diamonds in the rough. They just need someone who is willing to be there for them. Help me continue to give my students the best. These laptops will help to open doors for my students.
