I work with my students daily either in small groups or individually focusing on their specific reading needs. We work on one skill at a time and build upon each one which is exactly how this Primary Phonics decodable book set is set up. As students learn each phonic skill, they have the opportunity to apply that skill to their reading. Learning a phonic skill in isolation is a necessary first step, however, when a child is able to apply that skill to their reading, you know they have mastered the skill. Using books during phonics lessons also make it easier to incorporate reading comprehension skills. Students can begin to talk about setting, characters and events within a story while still focusing on their phonics lesson.
