I have shared my love for reading and now I have created avid readers! My students have the privilege of learning to read in both Spanish and English. Our goal is to create bilingual readers! I started the school year by sharing my love for reading by introducing them to the Piggie and Elephant books written by Mo Willems. These books have captured the hearts of my first grade kiddos and they beg me to read them a new Piggie and Elephant book daily! We love Piggie and Elephant books so much that we decided to dress up as Piggie and Elephant for our character dress up day on October 31st. The boys will be dressed as Gerald and the girls will be dressed as Piggie. My kiddos often talk among themselves on how when we have our Fall Book Fair they plan on buying Piggie and Elephant books, so I am certain that they will be so thrilled to have their very own Piggie and Elephant books as Christmas Presents.
