Every year our school, like others across the nation, practice many safety drills for worst-case scenarios. While I hope there is never a worst-case scenario at our school, I want to be prepared. These emergency backpack kits could mean the difference in saving our kid's lives. Most schools now have these backpacks in every classroom. Unfortunately, as an alternative trauma-based school we are severely underfunded and have not been able to afford the cost. Our staff cares deeply about each & every one of our students. As a whole, we don't ever want our lack of funding to be a reason that our kids safety is put in jeopardy.
